Community Roots Festival

One of the Cross-Cultural Center’s longstanding traditions, the Community Roots Festival (formerly known as Rainbow Festival) celebrates our diverse communities. Cultural performances, boothing and fundraising opportunities for our affiliated student organizations and a mural contest for our students organizations are featured in this annual fall event for the broader campus community.

Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium

The Martin Luther King Jr. Symposium takes place in January/February and features the Dr. Joseph L. White Lecture, workshops, and a service-learning project in collaboration with the Office of Campus Organizations & Volunteer Programs. Previous keynote lectures have been delivered by thought leaders including Yolanda King, Tavis Smiley, Cornel West, Charles Ogletree, Julian Bond, Harry Belafonte, Lani Guinier, and Tim Wise.

Deconstruction Zone

During spring quarter, the Cross-Cultural Center hosts weeklong guided and self-guided tours for participants to learn about various forms of oppression and marginalized communities. Educational passives, thought-provoking exhibits, and film screenings are highlights of this annual event for the broader campus community.
